Council Meeting Highlights
April 2025 - decision to purchase a second columbarium from Summit Memorials to be installed at our cemetery later this year. - decision to have a coat rack built for the east wall beside our main entrance door. March 2025 - decision to pursue purchase of a second columbarium for our cemetery from Summit Memorials. - John Ruskowsky's Right Standing Contracting will begin steeple repair this month when weather improves. - 6pm Soup and Buns followed by 7pm Lenten Services each Wednesday evening. -decision to renew two initially $25,000. investments and one $50,000. investment for one year terms. February 2025 - Ken Wagner is the new council chairperson. - Dan Rasmussen is vice chair with oversight of our constitution. - Lisa Gibb is the Social Committee’s liaison. - approval for a credit card was received. - $150,000 of the $250,000 anonymous gift will be invested in a GIC with a one year term. - Lenten Services will be held each Wednesday evening with Soup and Buns at 6pm followed by faith stories shared by our members at 7pm. - M/S/C for Right Standing Contracting to repair our church steeple for $45,570. - Dwayne Wagner will research cost and delivery of a second columbarium for our cemetery. January 2025 - Tentative plans to invest more funds in a GIC will be voted on at council’s next meeting. - Options for a church alarm/security system will be investigated for discussion at council’s next meeting. - A potluck lunch will precede our Annual General Meeting on Sunday, February 2, 2025 - John Ruskowski will prepare an estimate for steeple repair and cross replacement with work to be completed this spring. December 2024 - A large anonymous gift specified for maintenance and repairs to our church was discussed. This information will be shared with our congregation at our Annual Meeting on February 2nd. - An emergency help fund for people in need was approved for our 2025 budget in the amount of $2,500. - Once our application for a credit card is approved Wi-Fi will be purchased for church use. November 2024 - Four 36” wide tables have been purchased - Children’s Day Camp with Hastings Lake team is scheduled for July 14-18th, 2025 October 2024 - Decision to purchase Wi-Fi for the church. - Decision to trim the lilac hedges around the church and to remove the six spruce trees on the east side of our church property due to the hazard they pose if they fall onto the power lines, church or parsonage. - A chair dolly was donated to our church. - Some of our memorial funds will be used to purchase additional tables for the east wing. July 2024 - A sea can for equipment storage and riding mower have been purchased for cemetery maintenance with memorial funds. - Children’s Day Camp is scheduled for July 15-19th with a four member team from Hastings Lake Bible Camp and our own volunteers. June 2024 - Eight new members were welcomed. - Concrete pad by front door was raised by mud jacking contractor. - John Ruskowski will replace wheels on retractable wall divider and repair our steeple. - Plans are well underway for Children’s Day Camp July 11-15th. May 2024 -A generous memorial donation made for cemetery maintenance will be used to purchase a new lawn tractor and sea can storage container. - Another generous memorial donation will be used to purchase more tables for church use. - A new Google Account will be opened for Youtube access so videos can be used in Sunday morning worship. - New vinyl siding and fascias will be installed on the storage shed situated on the church’s north side. April 2024 - Most of the tickets are already sold for the Ladies Gold Star Luncheon for Saturday, May 4th. March 2024 - Decision to reinvest both a $50,000. and $25,000. amounts maturing in March for another one year term. Decision to invest an additional $25,000. amount from General Revenue into a one year term. - Decision to purchase a You Tube Premium Account for an annual fee of $129.99. February 2024 -Betty Schubert has agreed to sew pew cushions for pews in the east wing. -The Pancake Brunch on February 11th raised more than $770. for Outreach projects. -6pm Soup and Buns followed by 7pm Lenten Services with faith stories shared by our members each Wednesday evening February 21-March 27th. January 2024 -Decision to move remaining Building Reserve funds into the Church Maintenance Budget to simplify bookkeeping. -A Google account will be set up with the church e-mail address so files can be shared through this account rather than through personal accounts. June 2023 -Ladies Night Out - (Please add $1,000. donated to the Alberta Cancer Society for Cross Cancer Wigs.) -VBS ( More correctly called Children’s Day Camp. In addition to Grades 1-6 please add Pre-school Program for ages 4 and 5 with limit of 8) November 2022 -$1,820 was raised for the World Mission Prayer League (WMPL) at our Fall Supper on November 4th. -We hope to have the new AV system fully operational for the first Sunday of Advent, November 27th. -Children’s Advent Program is scheduled for 10:30am Sunday, December 11th. -Christmas Eve Candlelight Services will be held at 4pm and 6pm. -Christmas Day Service with Holy Communion will be held at 10:30 am. April 2022 -Most of the pews have been moved back into the sanctuary. -A new church photo directory will be published this summer. Dianne VanDalfsen will be contacting our members for family/individual photo appointments scheduled for the third week of June. -Holy Week services: 10:30am Palm Sunday 7pm Maundy Thursday Communion Service 10:30am Good Friday Tenebrae Service 10:30am Easter Celebration with Holy Communion March 2022 - Lenten Bible Study will be held Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. March 7 - April 13/22. -VBS to return this July. February 2022 -A brief AGM was held on Sunday, February 6th. -The need for a second columbarium was discussed and will be reviewed by the Cemetery Committee and Church Council. -A huge thank you was expressed to Kathy Ansorger and Paula Mears for tidying up and organizing many old paper records stored in the church basement. January 2022 -Thanks to members who have offered to serve on council beginning February 2022. -Thanks to Pastor Dennis for leading three Christmas Eve Services that were very much appreciated. -More discussion of the AV system will be happening in the future. -Our AGM will be held Sunday, February 6th. Please watch your mailbox for the 2021 Annual Report to be distributed January 23rd. -Paula Mears is assuming most of our church’s administrative responsibilities. |
